Richard Funk Obituary
Richard W. Funk
Richard W. Funk, 48, of Weatherly, died at the Hazleton General Hospital, on Sunday. He was the husband of Linda Williams.
He was a staff and feature writer for the TIMES NEWS and prior to that worked for the Standard-Speaker newspaper, Hazleton.
Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Janine (DeBavery) Funk.He practiced the Jewish and Native American faiths.
Funk was the author of two published books.
He was a member of the National Press Photographers Association.
The deceased received first place in the Keystone Press Awards in the "breaking news" category for his coverage of the Chester Miller story.
He was an avid collector of antique bottles.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Robert of Hazleton; two daughters, Janine Rahman of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Susan Funk of Weatherly; and three grandchildren.
The Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First St., Weatherly, is in charge of the arrangements.
