Ronald Beers Obituary
Ronald C. Beers, 75, of Dana Point, CA, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, in his home.
Born on Feb. 17, 1941, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County, where he was raised, he was a son of the late Pury F. Beers Jr. and Irene A. (Fehnel) Beers of Palmerton.
A 1958 graduate of Palmerton High School, he received his BA degree from the University of South Carolina on an NROTC scholarship, graduating in June 1962.
He later served eight years in the Navy, earning the rank of Lt. Com-mander J.G.
While in the Navy, he spent time serving in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat V for meritorious service against the enemy.
After leaving the Navy, he worked as a regional sales manager for the Celotex Corp. until his retirement.
Surviving are two brothers, Richard (Margie) Beers of Palmerton and Raymond (Helen) of Lancaster, CA; two sisters, Carolyn, wife of William Andrews, and Patricia, wife of John Kappes, both of Palmerton; two nieces and 14 nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley (Beers) Wuchter of Bath; and a brother, Terry A. Beers of Myerstown, PA, who died one day after Ron on Oct. 19, 2016.
Services for Ron and Terry were held on Sunday, Oct. 23, in the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville.

My sympathies to Ron's family and friends on the loss of both Ron and his brother, Terry. I greatly enjoyed Ron's company each March at the NCAA Basketball Tournament games. He was a pleasure to know and I will miss him. Rest in peace, my friend.
