Ronald George Sverchek

Ronald George Sverchek, 76, of Port Carbon, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

He retired as an investigator for PA Public Defenders Office in February 2020.

Born in Coaldale on April 16, 1948, he was a son of the late John and Veronica (Palsha) Sverchek.

He was a 1966 graduate of Marian High School and then graduated with honors from the University of a Scranton with a bachelor's degree in business.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from July 1970, until January 1972.

Surviving are two daughters, Elissa Sverchek and Renee, wife of Tom McGeoy; six grandchildren, Branden Fanelli, Ryan Sverchek, and his wife, Hannah, Mya McGeoy, Maci McGeoy, Brady Sverchek and T.J. McGeoy; a great-granddaughter, Khaleesi Joy Sverchek; three brothers: Jack Sverchek, Robert Sverchek and Mark Sverchek, and his wife, Anne; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Baddick; and nieces and nephews.

Service: Religious service 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, Port Carbon, with Deacon John Setlock officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Ronald, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final bugle has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Farewell fellow war veteran.
