Mrs. Sharon E. Rex

Mrs. Sharon E. Rex, 78, formerly of Lincoln Ave., Palmerton, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hecktown Oaks, Easton. She was the widow of Arnold C. Rex, who passed away in 2018. They had been a couple for 52 years and were married for 33 years before his passing.

She retired from Scotty's Fashions, Palmerton, after working for many years as a seamstress.

Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Willard A. and Beatrice E. (Keiser) Ahner.

She was a 1962 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and a member of Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ashfield.

Sharon was an avid reader and was known for her baking skills.

She loved the holiday family gatherings and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her brothers and sisters.

She loved Elvis.

Surviving are her children, Gary S. Rex, and his wife, Lisa, and Christopher Rex, and his wife, Serena, both of Palmerton, Steven A. Rex, and his wife, Kelli, of Germansville, and Shelley L. (Rex), wife of Alex Barajas of Allentown; sisters, Joy, wife of Fritz Lauer, and Donna, wife of Rickie Wentz, and a brother, Willard Ahner Jr., all of Lehighton; four grandchildren, Michael Rex, Gregory Rex, Gary Rex Jr. and Rebecca Mosley; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by two brothers, Larry Ahner and Richard Ahner; and two sisters, Nancy Blose and Patricia Ahner.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, with the Rev. Anthony Pagotto officiating. Interment, Franklin Heights Cemetery, Franklin Twp., Lehighton. Viewings 6-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
