Andrew Burris Obituary

BURRIS Andrew W. "Andy" Andrew William Burris, 36, of Curtice, Ohio left this world unexpectedly on Thursday, April 19, 2007, to be with the Lord. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and shared his faith with family, friends, and co-workers. Andy was born on November 2, 1970, in Toledo, Ohio to his surviving parents, Duane and Ruth Burris. He was their "Little Oonie." He was a 1989 graduate of Genoa High School and Penta Vocational School of Carpentry where he was top of his class. During high school and shortly after graduation, Andy was a new home rough framer. He left his trade for one year and went to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, to pursue his dream of becoming a minister. However, his love of wood and the call of hammers and nails drew him back to Toledo to begin his apprenticeship and soon become a journeyman carpenter. He was proud to be a trained OVAS union steward. Andy was very involved in the Carpenters Union Local #1138 and enjoyed his friendship with all his union brothers. He met the love of his life, Shonna (Twigg) in 1992, and married her October 5, 1996. They were blessed with surviving daughter, Breanna Rae, 3, his pride and joy. Andy looked forward to the day she would bring home her "trophy buck". Andy was often found traveling throughout his neighborhood giving a helping hand or in deep conversations. He loved the woods and was an avid deer bow hunter. He loved watching NASCAR races from the pits or on the couch! Andy was proud to be part of the crew which took the Skyway Bridge Pylon to the top. He loved being over 400 feet above the earth and often told others that was where he felt closest to God and that much closer to heaven. Andy's never ending stories, giant bear hugs, sweet laughter and gentle smile will be missed until we see him again. Surviving are his sisters, Sheryl (Mike) Lopez and Cindy (Doan) Whitt; grandparents, Ken and Delora Burris and Mildred Weiler; nieces and nephews, Krystle, Zach, Anthony, Megan, Ciera, Abbi, Alfred (Janelle) III, Melissa, James Jr., Kendra, Kyle and Troy; sisters and brother-in-laws, Alfred (Heidi) Twigg Jr., James (Kathy) Twigg Sr., Bev (Jon) Hosner; Lynne and Jennifer Adoline and his brothers at Local # 1138. Andy is preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Vivian Weiler; nephew, Alex Lopez; father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Joyce Twigg. Visitation will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Victory Christian Fellowship Church, 2051 Oak Harbor Road, Fremont, Ohio and where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Contributions can be made for Breanna through the "Andrew Burris Fund" at any Glass City Federal Credit Union.

Dear Shonna,
I was so shocked to hear of this tragedy and have been thinking of you ever since I found out yesterday when my mom told me about it. I cannot even imagine what you must be going through right now and I am so sorry for your loss. I've missed you over the past couple of years and you were always such a dear and true friend. You've definitely had a hard road since growing up, but I know you are a strong person. I'll be praying for you and your little one.

I will never forget Andy. He was a special person. We would always talk about his love of his family, racing, hunting, and Cubbies baseball. Our hearts go out to Andy's family. The world will be a sorrier place without Andy Burris, but he will make Heaven a better place. Give God one of those great big bear hugs. Til we meet again.

Dear Burris family,Peace be with you all. I wish that in my fifteen plus years as a carpenter in the bridge building business I could have worked along side Andy or simply had the good fortune to meet him. As it is by any measure, the man was the "finest" example of a human being. From the bottom of my heart, his passing brings great sorrow yet also great inspiration for me to be as proud, strong, forthright and dedicated as Andrew demonstrated in all of his endeavors and to strive for the perfection he emulated. Sincerely yours,

Shelby

Shonna, I think I may have met your husband Andrew through Klub Kahne. We talked several times in the club chat room. I just wanted to tell you that we had some very nice conversations about Nascar and being from Temperance (my hometown). He was so very nice to me those times we talked. One night I mentioned that I was having problems at my work and he told me about his local, to try to help me out. When I heard the news I was deeply saddend. I am so sorry for your loss, and I just wanted to tell you that I and all of the members of the club are thinking of you right now.
