Armando Vasquez Obituary

Armando Vasquez

Armando Vasquez, age 69, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully at home December 18, 2022 surrounded by loving family. Armando was born February 17, 1953 to Arnulfo and Guadalupe Vasquez.

Armando was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is known for his quiet demeanor, extreme cleanliness, organizational skills and the smile he kept on his face. A man of few words, yet he made lasting impressions with everyone he encountered. He was a rare soul surrounding those near him with the sense of safety and love. Armando spent his lifetime selflessly caring for others. Aside from the family he created with his beautiful wife Lin, he also took part in raising several nephews and five grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to music, watching sports, and being a collector.

Armando was a Navy Veteran and has served our community for 29 years as a Firefighter for the Toledo Fire & Rescue Dept., beginning July 2, 1982 until October 2, 2011; retiring from Station 14. During those years his family grew immensely with his brothers and sisters of the TFD. The unconditional love and support between this family has brought joy in the worst of times. Thank you, Toledo Fire & Rescue Dept. for your support, not only for Armando, but to our family as well. Your family has blessed our family and we are forever grateful. From Armando to the rookies, "Keep your mouth shut, ears open, eyes open and learn."

Armando is preceded in death by his parents, Arnulfo and Guadalupe Vasquez; his loving wife of 44 years, Linda "Lin" Vasquez; and two daughters, April Love Martinez and Leah Nicole Vasquez. Those surviving to honor his memory are his sons, Henry (Samantha) Martinez and Ismael "Zig" Vasquez; the grandchildren he devoted to raising, Demetrius Vasquez, Dorian Vasquez, Davion Vasquez, Apryl Hayes-Vasquez and George Hayes-Vasquez; along with many more grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Arnold (Diane) Vasquez, Abel (Debbie) Vasquez, Andrew (Vicki) Vasquez, Angie (Rico) Soto, Alphonso (Cindy) Vasquez, Alma (Doug) Schaffer, Apolito (Jessica) Vasquez and Andrea Vasquez.

Our family would like to give a special thank you to all of the nurses and aides with Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice Services, to the employees at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Point Place and to Armando's niece, Valarie Talley, for all the love, care, compassion and support given through this difficult time.
