Barbara Nicely Obituary

Barbara Ann Nicely

Barbara Ann Nicely, 72, of Toledo, passed away peacefully October 6, 2024, at Toledo Hospital. Born March 24, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the proud daughter of Wayne and Rita Zachrich. After graduating from Whitmer High School in 1970, she worked as an AV clerk and State funds bookkeeper at Regina Coeli, Christ the King and St. John's for nearly 30 years making multitudes of friends along the way.

Her life was filled with generosity of both her time and spirit. No one left her house without some food to take with them and no cause was too small for her to go all in on. Ask her to manage a bake sale for a charity, she would turn it into a Martha Stewart level pop-up shop.

She enjoyed gardening, baking, scrap booking and piecing together genealogies for her family and any who were interested. Her granddaughters were the joys of her life, she loved being with them.

Barbara is remembered by her husband, Patrick Nicely; her son, Michael (Tara) Nicely; daughter, Sarra (Jason) Beam; and her granddaughters, Piper Nicely and Elliot Beam.

She was preceded by her parents; and sisters, Rita Jane Dankmer and Jeanette Louise Franke.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 14th, at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560, from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. A short service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with a catered gathering to follow.

In lieu of flowers or to honor her memory, the family has asked that donations be made to the Toledo Fire Museum or Humane Ohio. https://www.toledofirefightersmuseum.org/ https://humaneohio.org/donate-now/

Barb and I went to grade school and high school together. Her mother was our Girl Scout leader. We got up to a lot of mischief together. The one I remember the most was an ink pen fight(who could mark each other the most). I think it was a draw and when our moms picked us up from school, they were not happy with their inked girls.
Barb was always so kind and nice to me.

To know Barb was to love Barb! She was truly
a very kind and personable woman. We became cherished friends at Ladyfield School. I loved our excursions to her home out in the country, to the Cape, and to my house for as friends the laughter was plentiful!
Her recipe for Rasberry filled thumbprints will always be a favorite of mine.
May she rest in God´s heavenly peace.

I am so saddened to read of Barb´s passing. She and I became fast friends when she and I worked at Ladyfield. Everything said about her going out of her way to help others is understated; she was the best! I cherish a coffee cup she gave me for my birthday and our trips to Cape Cod. Heaven definitely gained an angel!

Barb was one of kind! She is one of the first friends I made at Regina Coeli in 1986. Her warm smile, sense of humor, and kind heart were evident in everything she did. Pat and Barb were especially close with my son, Zach when he was young, too. He and I have many wonderful memories of days spent with them in Delta. The world is a little less joy-filled today without Barb in it.
