Mrs. Rainey, I will always remember you with special gratitude in my heart, from memories of you teaching us Shoreland Elementary kids the original song you wrote after the school fire to being our Choir teacher in high school and directing the Whitmer musicals. You helped shape us morally and we strived to excel as you encourage to be better people. You never knew this but I am a children's choir director today for my church going on my 18th year and I feel indebted to you as my finest example. God bless your family and may they know you will lasts watch over them. Thank you, Mrs. Rainey

Mrs. Rainey was one of a kind. I was fortunate enough to be in Fanfare for her last 3 years at Whitmer. She helped laid the foundations for me to become a professional musician and her kindness, wisdom, and encouragement knew no boundaries. I am grateful to have known and studied with her. Thoughts & prayers to the Rainey family and also to our Fanfare family. She was "Mom" to us all and we celebrate her extraordinary life by remembering how she taught us to love one another.
Wish I could be at the service, but sending condolences and hugs from afar. Much love.

Mrs Rainey was my music teacher at Shoreland. I always enjoyed her classes. One thing that stands out in my mind is a singing exercise we did: Ta Ta Tee Tee Ta, Tee Tee Tee Ta. It makes me smile to remember her standing in front of the class or sitting at the piano directing us, her students. I have enjoyed following her life through CJ on Facebook. She was one special lady and the love she shared for her family and students will never be forgotten. CJ you are a blessed man to have a mother like Barbara. I love the way you wrote the obituary. Mrs Rainey was an extraordinary lady she will continue to shine in all of our hearts. My thought are with her family.

My sweet mother in law left the best gift of all, my
Joel! She referred to me as miss Paige, and later, like a daughter... High praise from a lady who everyone knew, thought no one was good enough for HER JOEY!!!! She chose to accept me and love me as her own! I cherish the card that she sent that actually told me that I was like a daughter! High praise now that I understand as the mother of an adult son! GOD SPEED GRANDMA!!! Your light shines through so many lives!!!!! Not a day that we won't remember!!! Much love!

This woman had faith in my when no one in my family did. She used me in her choirs, her musicals and worked diligently with me for one of the biggest auditions of my life. She also NOT ONLY convinced my parents that the audition was a good idea - Barb enlisted her son, Joel to also work with me. THEN ... SHE WENT WITH ME.
I got in - I got a scholarship - I would not trade any of it for anything (Although I have long since left theatre - I am still active as an artist). She had faith in me.
There is nothing I can say that would come near to thanking her for all she did for me.
