Buckley “Duane”
Buckley “Duane” Harmon, age 67, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016, at The Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 10, 1948, in Paris, Texas to Preston and Nita (Archer) Harmon. Duane was employed as a dock worker for the Purex Corporation in Toledo for 20 years, a security officer for St. Luke's Hospital, and most recently as a driver for Crestview Apartments Assisted Living. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. A longtime member of Mayfair Plymouth Church. He volunteered countless hours as a Boy Scout Leader and baseball coach, and as a girls' softball coach for City of Toledo Parks. He was a fan of Ohio State and the Dallas Cowboys and was also a skilled archery hunter and fisherman. A true family man, Duane loved being “Papa” to his two grandchildren, attending all of their events in competitive gymnastics and karate. They were his greatest joy.
Duane is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Diana (Coop) Harmon (married March 2, 1968); daughter, Alyssa “Lisa” (Todd) Grace; son, Bruce Harmon; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Tyler Grace; sister, Brinda Rhodes, and many nieces and nephews. His parents and infant daughter, Valerie, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Mayfair Plymouth Church preceded by visitation in the church from 10 - 11 a.m. The Lucas County Burial Corps will conclude with Military Honors in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
