Charles F. Koppelman, 82, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away Tuesday, January 28, after a lengthy illness. Chuck was born in Petersburg, MI on January 27, 1932. Growing up, Chuck attended St. Michael Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, MI, where he was baptized and confirmed. Chuck graduated from Summerfield High School in 1950, where he was valedictorian. Chuck then attended the University of Michigan, majoring in business, and graduated in 1954. He was a proud alumnus and lifetime member of the Alumni Association. Chuck joined the Army in 1954, where he was commissioned as a second Lieutenant, infantry division. He served as Platoon leader, Executive Officer and

Company Commander. He was promoted to First Lieutenant in 1956.

Chuck married Betty Ganun on June 1, 1957. They were married for over 56 years. Chuck was absolutely devoted to his wife. Chuck worked in the banking business for over 40 years. He became a licensed CPA in 1962. He served in various positions including, Executive Vice President and treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Chuck and Betty moved to Scottsdale in 1991. After moving to Arizona, Chuck continued to work in the financial industry until his retirement in 2007. Chuck and Betty joined Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in 1991, where Chuck served faithfully on the Finance Committee.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lillian Koppelman; loving wife, Betty; daughter, Diane Whitehead (Ralph); sister, Luella Koch (Gene); brother-in-law, Bob Clune; nephews, Brian Clune and Vail Ganun and niece, Vicki Koch. Chuck is survived by his son, Craig Koppelman; sister, Ellie Clune; adored granddaughter, Autumn; son- in-law, Ralph Whitehead; brother-in-law, Gerald Ganun (Mariam) and nieces and nephews.

He was a proud member of both the Ohio Society and the American Institute of CPA's, The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He will be dearly missed.

Viewing will be on Friday, January 31, at Messinger Pinnacle Park Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85255 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1. A reception and lunch will follow the service. The graveside service will be at Paradise Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m. The family asks that all memorials and contributions be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
