Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

I just heard about this and my condolences to her family.

I loved her class and it is one of my most memorable ones from high school. Sentence diagramming and mythology stick most prevalently in my mind. I remember writing "Cosmongony" at the top of a blank sheet of paper and diagramming the Greek gods below it.

Rest in Peace, Mrs. Skulas. You were awesome!

Remembering Mrs. Skulas in Freshman English where she generously shared her love of our language. She leaves a lasting legacy of literacy in all those she taught so well. Peace be with you, Mrs. Skulas, along with your family, and all who remember you fondly. Marty, Whitmer Class of '66

Mrs. Skulas touched all of her students lives. I remember her well as a great English teacher and director of the Hi Jinx shows at Washington Jr. High. My thoughts and prayers go to the family

To the Skulas family... I was a student of your mom's back in 1982. She made Freshman English fun. I still remember some of the books we read and the play we had to act out in front of class. She was a delightful lady. It sounds like she was a strong woman too to battle for so long. My sympathies go out to you all.

Irene,
It has been too many years since our days at Lasalle's to remember, but I do. I remember what a vivacious woman your mother was and knew the fantastic foundation she was giving you and your brothers. I will say prayers of comfort for your family.

I remember what a warm, lovely woman she was, always welcoming, charming, kind. And what a great cook - I can still taste her lemon chicken.

To Irene & Skulas family: like others Mrs Skulas was my teacher and I would visit with Irene at her home... she was a wonderful teacher and a wonderful person. My condolences to the family.

To the Skulas family: This is a sad day, indeed. I became a journalist, in large part, because of a unit Mrs. Skulas taught in seventh-grade English class on newspapers back in the late 1960s. I eventually wrote for six daily papers in four different states before becoming a journalism professor at Doane College in Nebraska.
My sister alerted me to this news because she knew what an influence Mrs. Skulas had in my life. Mrs. Skulas will be greatly missed. My condolences to all in your family.

To the Skulas family - Mrs. Skulas was one of my teachers at Whitmer back in the early 70s - I remember enjoying her class. Your family is in my prayers.
