I remember the excitement when, I am guessing when I was around fifth grade, we got new neighbors in the white brick house next door to my own home at 3461 Orchard Trail, Toledo, Ohio. The father had a bright red Porsche 911! My brother David was a year older, I believe, than David Krakoff, and Steve Krakoff was a year older than I was. Steve and I became fast friends, playing football in my backyard, basketball in the driveway, performing simulated heart transplants on one of those "visible man" models that had the skeleton and organs to assemble. (This was December 1967, at the time of the first heart transplant, so the Krakoffs must have moved in prior to that.) Such a wonderful family, and wonderful neighbors. All of us kids grew up and moved away, and then my father passed and later Dr. Krakoff passed, but my late mother, Delores, and Corinne remained good friends always, through thick and thin. My own memory of Corinne is exactly as she appears in this wonderful photograph, cheerful and bright and energetic and kind. To me she was always just a really nice lady and my friend's mom... lots of cookies and milk next door, always.... but it was not until reading this obituary that I realized how accomplished she was in so many different fields, and she did so much in the service of others. My mother also got involved in providing mobile meals so now I wonder whether Corinne had encouraged that interest. We lost my mother in April 2020, and I know that to the end of her days she cherished Corinne and their friendship. And I know how proud Corinne was of her two outstanding sons because from time to time my mother would share some news that she had from Corinne. She was a wonderful person and my family sends most sincere condolences to hers.
