Irma Corrine Purtee Downey, 83, of 19 Northbrook Drive, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at her home in York, SC.
Corrine was a daughter of the late Arthur Purtee and Violet Gregg Purtee. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in York. Corrine retired as a teacher's assistant at San Jose Elementary School in Florida and retired as owner and operator of an alterations business in Florida.
She is survived by husband, John Paul Downey of York, SC; children, Michael Arthur Downey, Catherine Marie Reiter, James William Downey, Joyce Lynn Downey, John Paul Downey II; sisters, Zella Wells, Juanita Joyce Danko; brothers, John Purtee, Cloyd Purtee; 12 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Long officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Bratton Funeral Home in York, SC.
