Danny Roe Obituary

ROE
Danny L.
Danny L. Roe, 77, Bowling Green, OH went to his heavenly home on July 18, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ's love.
Danny was a devoted husband, father and friend to everyone that knew him. Danny will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 55 years, Nancy, whom he married October 2, 1960 and his children, Danny Lee (Beth) Roe, Cindy (Kevin) Matus, Leighan (Tad) Yarger, and Kevin Roe. Danny will also be remembered by his 8 grandchildren, Tony, Dustin, Christopher, Nolan, Kristin, Trey, and Abby and 3 great-grandchildren, Riley, Gavin and Landon; also by his sisters, Connie (Bob) Dauterman and Bonnie (Dan) Horner; and many nephews and nieces. Danny was predeceased by his parents, Guy and Violet Roe.
Danny was born in Wood County. He worked at Centre Market as a produce manager for many years. He then started his career of grain farming, wheat, corn and soy beans in Wood County for over 50 years. He worked countless hours during the planting and harvest season. He enjoyed calling his farming friends after it rained to compare how much rain they received in their fields. His passion for farming was an inspiration to all that knew him. He took great pride in his farming by having meticulous fields and clean machinery. He was very precise with his farming. Also during his farming career he made a commercial for a chemical company. In addition, while he was farming, he was a Director at Rural Grain in Weston, OH and served on the Mid-Am Bank Board for over 30 years. After retiring he then worked part time at Walmart in Bowling Green in the produce section. He was also treasurer of the Turnberry Condo Association.
Danny was a member of the Weston Church of Christ for 63 years and accepted Christ into his life at the age of 14. He was a Deacon, Elder, Trustee and Treasurer of the church. Even during his battle with cancer he attended church on Sundays and held the prayer group at their home on Monday evenings. He attended the church picnic this past Sunday.
Danny loved the holidays and Christmas was his favorite with playing Christmas “Bingo” as the Roe family tradition. He loved shopping and traveling with Nancy and his family, especially cruising.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Dunn Funeral Home, Bowling Green, OH on Thursday, July 21, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Funeral services are at Dunn Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, with Gary Wackler and Kim Huffman officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery.
Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Danny to the Cancer Society for Melanoma or the Weston Church of Christ. Thank you to the staff at Wood County Hospital and RN Gretchen.
