Darlene Marie Schings

Darlene Marie Schings, age 88, of Toledo's Point Place community, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 24, 1936 in Rossford, OH to John and Stella (Jaworski) Shallo. A graduate of Rossford High School, she was employed as a secretary for Owens Illinois in downtown Toledo, and in the records division for the Toledo Police Department, retiring in 1998. Darlene was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was very involved at the church as a member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society, lector, eucharistic minister, CCD teacher and school volunteer. She loved to travel with her husband Al, and together they organized excursions throughout the US. A caring and generous woman, Darlene exemplified unconditional love and unfailing compassion for the underdog. She will be dearly missed.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Albert Schings. She is survived by her daughters, Deby Pallitta, Kathleen Hudson, and Conny (Glen) Bacon; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Eileen Bostwick.

Visitation will be Friday from 9-10 a.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. Funeral services will begin Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
