Dr. David L. Grossman

Dr. David Grossman, 75, of Bradenton, FL, formerly from Toledo, OH, passed away January 30, 2025, in Lakewood Ranch. He was born May 6, 1949, in Youngstown, OH. David will be remembered for many things, including his quick, wry wit, his caring and loving attention to his patients during his many years as a practicing Internal Medicine Physician and Infectious Disease Specialist in Toledo, and his many public roles in the health field in Toledo and Lucas County, OH. He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) and from the second class of Medical College of Ohio (MCO) in Toledo, followed by an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases, and was Board Certified. Dr. Grossman also served as an Associate Professor at MCO (where he received rewards for teaching medical students and residents), and as Health Commissioner of Toledo-Lucas County Health Department. As Health Commissioner he was instrumental in eliminating public smoking in the State of Ohio, and shutting off the water supply from Lake Erie during a red algae bloom. David is survived by his brothers, Reuven (Patrae) Grossman of Portland, OR; and Kurt (Joanne) Grossman of Cincinnati; his daughter, Jessica (Josh) Eliscu, and his son, Jacob, both of Chicago; his grandchildren, Zoe and Eli Eliscu; his loving companion and dear friend, Dawn Weideman; and many cousins, nephews, a niece, and other extended family. He was predeceased by his sister, Lori (Mike) Sobul.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Congregation B'nai Israel, 6525 Sylvania Ave, Sylvania, OH 43560, followed by interment at Beth Shalom Cemetery, 420 Otter Creek, Oregon, OH 43616. I'm saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I was Dave's Travel Agent for many years, and he was our PCP for many years also. He was a wonderful, caring person, and a superb Dr. I have missed seeing him over the years. My condolences to his family & friends.

My name is Elizabeth CRomly. I worked with Dr. Grossman at Maumee Urgent Care Center and filled in for x-ray at his office. He was always willing to share his abundance of knowledge and I marveled at his innate ability to relate to people from all walks of life, meeting them where they were. His kindnesses to me on the job will not be forgotten. He was also said to be a Dr's doctor. He will be missed. Thank you David.

Dr. Grossman was our family physician and he also cared for my mother and father who absolutely adored him. He was a kind man with a wonderful personality. The world is a little less bright right now without him in it. My deepest condolences to Dr. Grossman´s loved ones.

Dr. Grossman was my PCP for over 30 years, he was always kind, understanding, humerous, knowledgable and most of all professional. He and his 3 partners had one of the best practices in the area for many years and for that I am greatful. R.I.P. my good man job well done!

Although our interactions were infrequent, I knew Dave as a colleague, a patient and even remember a by chance pairing with him at an SCC golf outing. In all cases hi kind, caring, quick witted character and excellence as a physician were self evident.

Rest in peace Dave,
