Dennis J. Stallbaum

Dennis J. Stallbaum, age 67, passed away on January 7, 2025, comfortably and at peace after fighting health battles he could not conquer, in the Cleveland Clinic.

Dennis was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and attended high school at St. John's Jesuit. He then attended the University of Missouri for a stint until injuring his knee playing college basketball. Dennis was a proud member of the Toledo Elks Maumee Turtles.

A devoted fan of Purdue football and basketball, Dennis could always be found in his Purdue sweatshirt on game days, cheering them on. He saw last year's basketball team play at Mackey Arena, and was exceptionally proud of their advancement to the NCAA men's tournament finals and Zach Edey.

Dennis was continually asked how the weather was up there, how tall he was, if he played basketball, and was often asked to grab items from the top shelf at the grocery store. He handled each encounter with grace, a smile on his face, and was always happy to help. His passion was sports, with a little bit of keno and possibly a beer or two, and sitting with friends.

Surviving are his sister, Robin Lougheed; brother-in-law, Scott Lougheed; fiancé, Joanne Fankhauser; and several nieces and nephews he loved dearly. Preceding him in death was his mother, Joyce (Taylor) Stallbaum; his father, Norman Stallbaum; and his sister, Shelley Kash.

The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Rd., Friday, January 16, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m., Friday January 17, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Ave, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations can be made to the charity of choice in place of flowers. All are welcome to join us for a luncheon following the burial at Trinity Lutheran Church.
