Donald Shier Obituary
Donald R. Shier, 99, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away December 27, 2024, in the University of Toledo Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born March 29, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, to Carlton A. and Beatrice (Butler) Shier. Donald worked for the former Gene Richards and Sons. Donald was an avid outdoors person, having a lake cottage on Devils Lake for over 74 years.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cathy Ann Shier; sister, Jeanne Ruth; grandson, Eric Shier. Surviving is his wife of 77 years, Catherine C. (Sterzel) Shier; son, Terry (Janice) Shier; grandson, Joel Shier.
Private graveside services will be held in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd. Please view and sign Don's condolence page at berstickerscottfuneralhome.com

Your father was so genuine that I could have talked with him at length and enjoyed the conversation with him and Catherine. This was a rare moment on the day of my cousin Tim's funeral when I saw them sitting in their truck, and I walked over to talk with them. They were very happy to do so. Terry and Janice are precious to me, and thankfully they have a precious family.
