Donald Tober Obituary

TOBER Donald Lawrence Donald Lawrence Tober, 72, of Vanderbilt, Michigan, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital, Petoskey, Michigan. He was born December 22, 1936, to the late Lawrence and Helen (Barchick) Tober. Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon (Long) Tober; four children, David (Stephanie), Joseph and Patrick Tober, and Kathy (Pete) Samijlenko and six grandchildren. Don worked for Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company for 40 years. He started as a glasscutter, transferred to the electrical maintenance department, and retired as an electrical maintenance supervisor. Visitation will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. in the Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009. Don's niece, the Rev. Robin Long will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Grand Rapids, preceded by military rites accorded by the Grand Rapids American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Mary Cathedral or the Otsego County Friends for Life Animal Rescue Program. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wright-hobbs.com

Sharon, Ann and I are so sorry to hear of Don's passing. It seems only yesterday we were at your place enjoying your "paradise". Please accept our condolences. Don was a special guy.

It's been almost 20 years since I last saw you and Don. I had a lot of fun working with Don and Fat Jack. He taught me a lot. He was a great guy. Our prayers are with you and the family.
