Doris Crowder Obituary

Doris Ruth Crowder

May 17, 1936 - January 14, 2021

Doris Crowder, age 84, of Charlotte, North Carolina and formally of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from Alzheimer Disease.

She was a loving mother and valued the time she had as a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader and Den Mother. She loved volunteering for activities at her children's school, taking family vacations, and most of all providing a safe, loving, and nurturing home for her 3 children.

She started her working career as a cosmetologist at Tiedtke's in downtown Toledo and later worked for Lucas County Jobs and Family Services until retirement. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lover of cats, dogs, bird watching, gardening and last, but not least, ice cream! As her Alzheimer's progressed, she never lost her kindness and wit.

Special thanks to Atrium Hospice of Charlotte North Carolina for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Doris and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Antrim and Helen Banning; and her grandson, David Crowder. She is survived by her children, William Crowder, Debra (Terry) Ketcham, and Joan (Shannon Luke) Crowder-Murray; grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Jennifer, Angie, Amanda, Nichole, Sara, Alison, and Matthew and 12 great grandchildren.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

We will hold you in our hearts until we hold you in heaven.
