Luann, Steve, Vicki: It's never easy when loved ones pass on, even when you know they're not hurting anymore. I honestly didn't know your dad that well, but the legacy he left in You - his children - is a testament to his wit, wisdom and character. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Luann, Steve, Vicki and family-

Our thoughts are with you all in your time of sorrow.

I can recall as a youngster, crashing a wedding uptown (cause we had nothing better to do), and spent much of the night listening to Doyle jam out on the skins.

Take Care,

Steve Mizer

My memories of Doyle are very many! They always bring a smile to my face. He was always so gruff on the outside but I knew of the man who with his beloved Ellen could glide across the dance floor with such grace and joy! I always wanted to dance like that...and now he will dance again with grace and joy and with his Ellen!

The day after Holloween in about 1963, George Hershberger roared into Lyons High School Agriculture Class and demanded that whichever of us SOB's had taken Doyle Gillespie's trailer as a Halloween prank had best get the G-D thing back. I think that was the angriest I ever saw Hersh get, and he did have a temper. The next day, he came back into class and very humbly appologized, Doyle had forgotten he had told someone they could borrow it. Lyons lost a good man with Doyle's passing.
