Eduardo CALDERON Obituary

CALDERON Eduardo, M.D Eduardo Fiegehen Calderon, M.D., age 79, of Toledo, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee surrounded by his loving family. Born May 14, 1932 in Santiago, Chile to the late Pedro Nolasco Calderon and Teresa Fiegehen. He married Yolanda Urrejola on November 27, 1957 in Santiago, Chile. Dr. Calderon graduated from the Universidad Catolica de Chile and did his neurology training at the Universidad de Chile and Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. After furthering his neurology education in the United States, Dr. Calderon returned to Chile to private practice for 2 years before accepting a position on the faculty of the Medical College of Ohio/University of Toledo Medical Center. He also founded thereafter Toledo Neurological Associates, where he worked in private practice for 30 years at St. Luke's Hospital, Mercy Hospital, St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo Hospital and Parkview Hospital. After his retirement, Dr. Calderon also took the time to earn a bachelor's degree in history from The University of Toledo. He traveled the world extensively with his wife, including Europe, Asia, Polynesia, and South America. While residing in Chile during the winter months, he enjoyed spending time with his extended family. Family was very important to him, and he had researched his family genealogy back to the late 1700s. His friends and family will always remember his wit and intellect. He was an avid reader and loved his coffee. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Yolanda Urrejola Calderon; beloved children, Rosa Munoz, Eduardo Tomas (Yolanda) Calderon, John Paul (Ann) Calderon, Alexandra (Todd) Dailey, Paulina (Neal) Semel and Francisco Calderon; grandchildren, Eric Dailey, Victoria Calderon, Sebastian Calderon, Nicole Dailey, Benjamin Calderon, Isabel Calderon, Carter Calderon and Connor Calderon, Eli Semel, Charlie Calderon and Ezra Semel; all of his nephews and nieces with special mention, Ernesto (Sara) Figueroa and their children Nicolas, Jason and Ian Figueroa. There are many good people in this world & a few great ones. Dr Calderon was one of the great ones. My family benefited from his brilliance & wonderful bed side manner, & it was a priviledge to work with him at several hospitals. May his family & friends retain sweet memories for years to come.
