Elaine Weisberg Obituary

WEISBERG Elaine A. "Annie" Born on March 24, 1915, to Clara and Harry Essak, Annie was the oldest of three children, David Essak and her surviving sibling, Lois Berkowitz (Martin) of Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Toledo and attended Woodward High School where she was voted "Miss It" or "Miss Popularity". Annie married Fred Weisberg, a Toledoan who was one of eight brothers known for their athletic accomplishments, in 1936. They were happily married for 42 years until his death. They had one daughter, Karen Peskoff, now of McLean, VA, and they gained a son when Karen married Stephen Peskoff. She had two grandsons, Jeremy (Susan) Peskoff of Newport Beach, CA and Jonathan (Marla) Peskoff of McLean, VA. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Halle Isabel Peskoff, of McLean. A devoted Bingo player, Annie loved bridge, poker, horse racing, slot machines, and people. She always had a ready smile and was beloved by all who knew her. She was affiliated with Congregation Etz Chayim and its Sisterhood. Annie lived at West Park Place for the last eight years where she was an active "public relations ambassador" (unpaid but very happy). She enjoyed the staff and other residents, the programs, the bingo and poker games, and all that senior living has to offer. Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, March 10, at Beth Shalom Cemetery, Oregon, OH, at 2:00 p.m. Contributions to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements by the Robert H. Wick/Wisniewski Funeral Home, 419-535-5840.

Ann was my nursery school teacher, many years ago, and I loved her dearly. Whenever I would run into her, over the years, I would embrace her. I will never forget the twinkle in her eyes. Her daughter, Karen, was an old friend of my late sister, Marilyn.

Scott & I would like to send our deepest sympathy to your family. We both love Annie very much. I really enjoyed knowing her when I worked the front desk at West Park Place. She was very endearing and well liked. She did make a great ambassator. Her presence will be greatly missed. I am sure Annie will be trying to give everyone in heaven cookies or leftovers from lunch. She loved to share. :) Best wishes

Aunt Annie was a trooper. My greatest memory is when we went to see Marc on the Oprah Show. I asked Aunt Annie if she wanted to go and she said yes. I picked her up at 3:30am and we were off to the train station. The train stopped in Indiana and picked up Lori and Darryl and off we were to Chicago. It was January and cold, but Aunt Annie bundled up in her mink coat kept up with us until we returned her to her home at 1:30 am. What a day, what a trooper! You will be missed.
