Elodia MATA Obituary

MATA Elodia Mother Elodia Mata, 64, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Toledo Hospital. She was the beloved mother of Denise Wagoner and Lori Braunschweiger (Roy Kennedy); grandchildren, Jessica Morford and Nikolas Wagoner; great-grandchild, Jonathon Morford. Also surviving are her mother, Celestina; brothers, Gumersindo (Mary Lou) Jr., Jose (Delores) Sr., Louis (Kathy) Sr., and Daniel Sr.; sister, Yolanda (Robert) Morrison and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of loving and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gumersindo Mata Sr. and nephew, Louis Jr. The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff of the Toledo Hospital Heart and Vascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Your kindness, patience, compassion and dedication our loved one will be instilled in our hearts always. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White Street, Toledo Ohio 43605. Arrangements entrusted to the Ansberg-West Funeral Directors, 419-472-7633. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Thomas Aquinas Church. To send the family online condolences, please visit www.ansberg-west.com . Her Eyes Gone are the eyes that watched me grow. The eyes that were able to see into my soul. Together we climbed mountains and made it through the pain. Only to find out that someday it would be forever changed. As you've gotten weaker, I've gotten stronger. Able to take care of myself even though I didn't want to. You'd be proud of my wit, my confidence and my charm. People say I'm just like you and I know all about your charms. The eyes are in my heart, the eyes that saw my soul. But gone are the beautiful eyes, eyes that watched me grow.

To those that will gather to morn, may your thoughts of shared silly memories dry your eyes with ever lasting smiles. Each of you carries the responsibility to pass on just a little bit of Elodie for those that follow. Her silliness will always live big.

I am so sorry to hear about Elodia. I grew up with her and hung out when I was staying with my grandparents on Brigham St. I have not seen her in years but my thoughts are with her family. May your faith in God get you through this.
