Ernest D. Fabian

FABIAN Ernest D. Ernest D. Fabian, 91, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully August 14, 2007, at Bay Park Community Hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 1, 1916, to Dennis and Elizabeth (Takacs) Fabian. Ernie grew up on the east side in Birmingham and was proud of his Hungarian heritage. He was a graduate of Macomber High School and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving over seas in China Burma India. Over the years, Ernie was employed by Libbey Glass, Pure Oil Refinery as a pipe fitter/boilermaker, and the city of Oregon's water department. Mr. Fabian was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ft. Industry Lodge #144 F&AM, Toledo Port Lawrence Chapter #161, Vistula Council #108, and the Birmingham VFW #4906. He was an avid bowler and golfer, golfing until he was 90. He was happiest telling stories and making others laugh. Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Viola; daughters, Suzanne (Jeff) Storer and Janet (Rob) Schroeder; grandchildren, Jeremy Storer, Nick (Allison) Schroeder and Jerred (Miranda) Schroeder; great-grandchild, Devin Schroeder; sisters, Rosa Molnar, Ethel Toth, and many nieces and nephews. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William. The family would like to thank Pastor Bull, Dr. Lorton, Dr. Kahn, and the staff at Bay Park Community Hospital for their wonderful compassionate care. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday, August 17, 2007 from 2-9 p.m. with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in Toledo Memorial Park.
