Victor Virgil Matuszewski, age 95 of Point Place, departed this world peacefully on March 16, 2026, at Kingston Residence of Sylvania. Born on July 5, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, to Alphonse and Stella (Dobrzykowski) Matuszewski, Victor was a man whose life radiated warmth, kindness, and fierce dedication to family and community.
A graduate of Macomber High School, Victor, known affectionately as Vic, took pride in his Polish heritage. He married Constance Urbanski on September 15, 1951, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, forming a partnership that would last a lifetime. His commitment extended beyond his family; as a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Victor served his country during the Korean War, embodying the spirit of duty and honor.
Professionally, Victor applied his remarkable skills as a Tool and Die Maker at Ort Tool and Die and later at Dana's Spicer Division within the auto parts manufacturing industry. His expertise was matched only by his ability to connect with those around him, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
Victor's heart was deeply rooted in service, volunteering extensively at Bethany House, St. Hedwig Church, and St. Hedwig School. He also shared meaningful moments working alongside his uncle Stanley at Urbanski Funeral Home and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic War Veterans, and the VFW.
Known for his easy smile and storytelling, Vic found joy in bowling and golf, whether participating or watching. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with family. The cherished vacations where he always drove, the school events he never missed, and the countless family gatherings are precious memories that will forever echo in the hearts of his loved ones.
Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Joyce Matuszewski, grandson Garrett Matuszewski, great granddaughter Emily Scholz, son-in-law Phil Scholz, brothers Gerald, Eugene, James, Thomas, and John Matuszewski and his sister Marguerite Majchrowski.
Victor is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Connie, his children: Mark (Michelle) Matuszewski, Jane Scholz, and Janelle (Jeff) Carpenter, sisters: Mary Higgins, Katherine Rohrs and Francine Rupple. Also surviving are his beloved 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Victor's Life Celebration will be Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 2 pm until 8 pm, in Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, March 27, from 10 am until 11 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 North Summit St. Toledo, Ohio where the Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Toledo, Ohio, with military honors honoring his brave service to our nation. Victor Matuszewski leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and unyielding devotion to family and community. Memorial contributions are encouraged to Bethany House or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
