WEBNE

Estelle "Sissy" Ziatz

Estelle "Sissy" Ziatz Webne, dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, died April 23, 2013, at age 89. She lived a full and gratifying life consistent with her values of family, education, and independence. Sissy was born July 25, 1923, the middle child of Laura and Jacob Ziatz, and beloved member of the larger Sietz family, often noting that her several aunts were more like mothers to her and cousins were as close as siblings. Sissy was born in Toledo, a city she loved and lived in nearly her entire life, until she moved to Madison, WI to be near family. She spent most of her childhood living in the "duplex" on Delaware which was next door to her parents' neighborhood market and near her extended family and later moved to Birkhead Place when she was in high school. She treasured the family "Cousin's Club" started by her Grandmother, Ida Seitz, a woman whom Sissy admired, and dearly loved. Sissy graduated from Ohio State University in dietetics and interned in Chicago at Michael Reese Hospital. She worked as a dietician at Toledo Hospital for more than 30 years. Sissy and Sam Webne married in 1950 and enjoyed 32 years of marriage that included a family of 3 children, travel and service to the community. Sissy valued her organizational affiliations with Hadassah, Darlington House and membership in Temple Shomer Emunim. She served as past president and member of the local chapter of the American Dietetic Association and further offered her professional services in volunteer capacity to Darlington House and wherever her help was needed. Sissy cherished her relationships with family and generously gave of herself with love and kindness. She is survived by her sister Maurine (George); children Deborah of Houston, Texas, Steve (Andrea) of Toronto, Ontario, Lisa (Harry) of Madison, Wisconsin and dearest grandchildren: Daniel, Sara, Jacob, Sam, Hannah, Michael (Katy), Geremy and Maya as well as great-grandchildren, and her many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Sissy is pre-deceased by her husband, Sam and, brother, Seymour. Funeral services will be held at Robert H. Wick/Wisnewski Funeral Home-2426 N. Reynolds Rd. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Beth Shalom Cemetery. Tributes suggested in the form of contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
