Eugene R. Benner

BENNER Eugene R. Eugene R. Benner, age 76, of Bryan, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan. Mr. Benner retired from West Point in 1992 having served as Head Athletic Trainer. He had also served as Head Athletic Trainer at the University of Cincinnati, Hofstra, Kansas State and the University of Maine. Mr. Benner was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Bryan High School, Wilmington College and Indiana University. He was a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Bryan Moose #1064. Born October 7, 1932, in Bryan, Ohio, he was the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Wagner) Benner. He is survived by cousins, William and wife, Shirley Brannan of Waterville, Ohio, Stephen and wife, Loretta Brannan of Pettisville, Ohio and Jennifer Brannan Phillips of Mesa, Arizona. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Eugene R. Benner will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Shiffler Cemetery. The Burr Funeral Home & Crematory of Bryan is handling the service arrangements. Further details will be announced later.
