Frank Howard Nagy "Frankie"
Frank Howard Nagy "Frankie" passed peacefully in his home in the early morning on March 27, 2018. He was surrounded by loved ones and family. We will remember him most for his sense of humor, sharp wit and intellect, love of music and baseball, artwork, and lively political discussions. Frank graduated from Maumee High School in 1965 and soon after enlisted to serve in the US military in one of the first Air Force Blue Beret units. His unit deployed to Vietnam in 1968 supporting both the Army and Air Force operations until late 1969. Those wartime experiences together with his return home to a fractured America made him a passionate advocate for civil rights and anti-war movements. Frank retired as a Boilermaker after thirty-four years and continued to champion worker's rights, attending meetings and gatherings to support his union until the very end. Though he struggled to see for nearly eighteen years, he was an avid reader and continued to create inspired art, cook delicious Hungarian meals, and garden. In the last few years of his life he especially enjoyed listening to Indians and Browns games and connecting with his children and grandchildren using art and humor as his beacon.
Frank Howard Nagy (71) is survived by the love of his life and mother of his three children, Christine Nagy (69), his son, Jeff Nagy (47) and his two daughters, Sarah Trueblood (43) and Lindsey Laurie (34). He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Jeffrey Nagy (24), Rachael Nagy (21), Elizabeth Nagy (18), Laurel Nagy (14), Roslynd Laurie (14), Joshua Nagy (13), Tommy Laurie (12), Joel Nagy (11), Christopher Trueblood (8) and Noah Lux (7) and by his two older brothers: Bill Nagy (75) and Bob Nagy (72). Frank's wishes were to have his body donated to the Medical College of NW Ohio for health science research. A memorial service will be held at the Local 85 Boilermaker Union Hall on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
