Frederick G. "Papa" Thorn Sr., age 70, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in his residence. Fred was retired from Gem Industrial as a millwright after 35 years. He was a family man who loved his morning coffee and Me TV. Fred enjoyed cheering for the Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions. He would also have his daily scratch off tickets. He was preceded in death by his parents, Webster and Ella Ruth (Jones) Thorn; and nephew, Peter Hayes.
Fred is survived by his wife, Valerie; children, Frederick Thorn Jr., Kendel Thorn and Nathan Strachn; grandchildren, Jace Thorn, Mya Barto, Seirra Roberts, Angel Thorn, Ava Thorn, Tori Strachn, Paige Strachn and Peyton Strachn. He is also survived by his siblings, Webster, William, Charles, Edward, Patti, Cindy, David and Mark.
The family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home A Life Celebration Home, 2907 Lagrange St., Toledo, Ohio, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m.
