George L.

George L. Dorlay, 87, died at the Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, OH, on August 28, 2014.

George was born in Boston, MA on October 19, 1926. Upon graduation from Quincy, MA high school in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed with the First Marine Division in China.

He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music in 1951 and taught school in Blanchester, OH, and Ottawa Hills High School. George retired from Owens-Illinois in 1987 with 32 years of service as a glass furnace designer in the Administrative Engineering Department.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ann. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage and six children, Mark, Ann, Wayne, Constance Howald (Jeff), John (Gail) and Elizabeth Chovanec (George). He was also blessed with two granddaughters, Lauren and Samantha Howald; surviving also are his sisters, Jane Daly (Tim) of Weymouth, MA and

Barbara Warner of Sun City Center, FL.

George was an avid model railroader, enjoyed music, and loved making furniture. His family cherish the pieces he made.

According to his wishes, his body was donated to the anatomical donation program at the UTMC College of Medicine.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Promedica Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

A memorial Mass will take place at a later date.
