Harold Penson Obituary

PENSON Harold Brent Harold Brent Penson was born September 5th, 1950, in Mississippi County, Blytheville, Arkansas. He was the first child born to the union of Essie Mae and James Arthur Penson. At one (1) year of age the family settled in Toledo, Ohio where Harold eventually attended Roosevelt Elementary, Robinson Jr. High, and was a graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School. Harold was employed with the Toledo Chrysler Machining Plant in Perrysburg, Ohio for 8 years before he joined the Sun Oil Refinery in East Toledo. There he spent the next 28 years as a transfer and supply operator until his retirement October 1st, 2008. Harold enjoyed membership in the Ohio State Association of Power Engineers and the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. He earned a Stationary Engineer license in addition to a 3rd Class Steam Engineers license. Harold "loved" the sport of golf and played as often as time would permit. He was an avid fan of Tiger Woods and swore one day he would bring his game up to "Par". Harold, along with his wife, Karen traveled as often as possible. Cruises to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Bahamas, and numerous trips to Las Vegas enhanced their horizons. With an interest in martial arts and physical fitness, Harold received his 3rd Degree Black Belt in Goju-Ryn Karate. Harold accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended Ascension Lutheran Church but later became a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. On Monday October 26th, 2009, Harold departed his earthly life to be reunited in faith to His Heavenly Father and into the care of his father, James Arthur; uncle, Joseph Mayweather, and his grandmother, Lucinda Mayweather King; also known as "Big Ma", who was very instrumental in his upbringing during the early years of his life. Harold leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his loving memory, devoted wife, Karen A. (Kyser); 5 daughters, Charita R. Rayford (Dorian), Keanen D. Kyser, Kasey B. Byrd (Britt), Karenina A. Penson, and Kay B. Moore (William); mother, Essie Mae Smith; sister, Linda K. Jackson (Jesse), and 15 grandchildren whom Harold loved dearly, Damaya, Paris, Zoe, Dorian, Lamonte, Maiya, Mylen, Karenajhia, Mackynzie, Kennedy, Britt, Brennin, William II, Daryn, and Kaleb, other relatives and dear friends. Harold was an outstanding husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Having touched the lives of so many, he has loved and he is loved. God who doeth all things well, who is to wise to make a mistake, saw fit to call his servant home, to rest from his labor and being his eternal life with God. Family and friends may visit the Dale-Riggs Funeral Chapel at 572 Nebraska Ave. on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009, with Family Hour beginning at 6:00 p.m. and Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made also at www.dalefh.com

To the Penson Family,

I wonder if he stood in God's presence or if he fell to his knees. Did he sing hallelujah, or was he able to speak at all? As the song says, I can only imagine...

I pray God's peace and blessings over you all.

To the Penson Family: First and foremost it is my prayer that your faith in God, the closeness of your family unit, the support of friends and church family will help all of you during this most difficult time. I've know Harold since childhood and he was a class act throughout his entire life. I worked with Harold the last 28 yrs. at Sun Oil. He was always professional and you knew the center of his life was his wife and family. Harold was a fighter supreme. I watched him work out at Bally's while he waited for his transplant. He consulted with me when he wanted to come back to work after long term disability. He came back because he was a gladiator. We at Sun will forever miss him. Harold was a Man in every since of the word. God bless your family.

Daddy,
You were the best dad any child could ever ask for. You weren't only my daddy, but you were my best friend. No one will ever compare to you and no one will ever take your place. I know in my heart that we will be together again when Jesus calls us all home. I cannot wait to see you again. Until that day, I will carry on with the wisdom, love and strength you gave me. I love you always and I'll see you soon.
Forever yours,
Kasey
