Jack Sheffer Obituary

SHEFFER Jack S. Jack S. Sheffer, 82, of Wauseon, passed away Friday morning, May 16, 2008, at The Toledo Hospital. Prior to his retirement in 1987 he had worked as a Journeyman Electrian for the Chrysler Corporation in Perrysburg for 18 years. Mr. Sheffer was born in Wauseon on August 5, 1925, the son of the late Lawrence and the late Opal (Harrison) Sheffer. On July 8, 1949, he married Donna Mae Birtcher, and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2000. They had been married for 51 years. He was a member of the First Church of God in Wauseon. Jack was an Army Veteran of WWII and was a member of the Wauseon American Legion Post and the Wauseon D.A.V. He was also a Master Mason of the Scottish Rite, Northern Light Masonic Lodge in Maumee. He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator (WD8BKG). Surviving are five children, including three daughters, Betty (David) Baldwin of Bryan, Cathy (Lonnie) Thiel of Bryan, Wilda (James) Kalb of Edgerton; two sons, William Sheffer of St. Charles, MO, and Timothy (Teresa) Sheffer of Kunkle; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Joan Lindsey of Alameda, CA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the First Church of God in Wauseon, with Pastor Wesley Glines, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery, where Military Rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard. A Masonic Service will be held at the beginning of the funeral service on Tuesday. Friends may call at the Edgar - Grisier Funeral Home on Monday from 2 - 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the charity of the donor's choice. www.GrisierFH.com
