“Our Daddy’s Love”

In each and every one of our eyes
It is evident how much you have touched our lives

And clear the void left in our hearts
As you walk with God, your spirit will never depart

The love of our Father
Both here on earth and above
Nothing that will ever match the love
That showered on us as you opened your heart

Daddy please know that because of you
And your love so true,
there is nothing we can’t do

Daddy, I know you already know,
but we love and miss you so.

My condolences to the family and friends of James Edward Terry Sr. For years in the late 50s I carried The Blade to the Terry family on West Woodruff Ave. James and his siblings were always so happy and full of joy. I'm sure this was because of their good upbringing and the examples set by their parents. I still have memories of Mother Terry who was always so kind and pleasant. Mrs. Terry gave me some tropical fish from an aquarium, loaded with fish and plants, which sat by a window in the family's dining room. Those fish and their young provided much joy for me over the years. Understanding that you are the sum total of everyone you've met, I think some of Mrs. Terry's generosity rubbed off one me. I'm sure James' loved ones have many fond memories of him, which brings me to the African proverb, "No one is truly gone until there is no one left to say his or her name." Speak James' name often and be uplifted by his many years of good times, fun times, and times when he encouraged you on your journey through life. One of my New Year's Resolutions is to make more good memories for people; you never know when they may bring a little joy to someone many years later. I pray James has had a safe journey on his way to be with the ancestors. May the soul of James Edward Terry Sr., and the souls of all the dearly departed, "Rest in Peace." Bobby Johnson
