Jane PHILO Obituary

PHILO Jane L. Jane Louise Philo, age 89, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Ridgewood Manor Care Center. She was the daughter of Herbert B. Cook and Delma (Mohn) Cook. Jane was recognized for over 30 years of volunteer ministry. Her ministries included the thousands of get well cards she made for patients of St. Luke's Hospital (delivered by Forey Kosch), lap robes and clown dolls. As a member of the Maumee United Methodist Church, Jane hosted a craft group in her home to make bazaar items including prayer quilts, stuffed toys, dolls, and needlepoint projects for their church for over thirty years. Many of the ladies' group have passed on but will not be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Charles Mohn; husband, Robert H. Philo; son, John J. Szofer; siblings, Martha Johansen, Jack Cook (Doris), Pat Elliott, and Herbert B. Cook, Jr.; mother-in-law, Orie Philo; sisters-in-law, Hazel White, Viola and Ruth Philo and Helen Philo Strayer, and brother-in-law, Newell Philo. She is survived by her son, James (Barbara) Szofer of Louisville, KY; eight grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Jane was always grateful to those who helped her live a full life. She was buried in a private service at Riverside Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Bob. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Maumee Senior Center or Maumee United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Coyle Funeral Home (419) 865-1295.
