Jerome F. "Jerry" Wozniak
Jerome F. "Jerry" Wozniak, age 85, passed away on December 27, 2022 with his family by his side. Jerry was one of four children, born on January 18, 1937 to Frank and Dorothy (Olszewski) Wozniak.
Jerry attended St. Adalbert grade school, and graduated from Woodward High School. He graduated from Davis College earning an associate degree in accounting. He then graduated from Ohio Savings and Loan Academy at Ohio University.
Jerry was drafted into the Army for two years and on his return began his 35 year career with First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Toledo in the accounting department. From there he advanced to become Executive Vice-President of the Savings Division until retiring and joining Merrill Lynch as a Financial Consultant in Consumer Markets.
All his life, Jerry had a tremendous love for the game of golf. As a young boy he and his brother, Don, caddied summers at the Inverness Golf Club. Don once caddied for Sam Snead in a tournament there, and at another time, Jerry caddied for Jack Burke when he won the prestigious Invitational Tournament at the Inverness Club. Jerry played District Golf and also enjoyed playing in several of the Jamie Farr Golf pregame tournaments
Jerry coached grade school basketball at St. Adalbert's and at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns where his children attended school.
Jerry was a former member of Brandywine Country Club where he served on the Board; Valleywood Golf Club; The Toledo Club; Maumee River Yacht Club; and a life member of the Maumee-BG Elks Club. He was a Past-President of the Toledo Association of Home Builders Associates; and a Past-President of the Westgate Kiwanis Club. On Many Saturdays he would join with other Club members constructing buildings at Camp Courageous, a place for people with developmental disabilities to experience summer camp. He also participated in the annual Peanut Sale staged by the Westgate Kiwanis Club to benefit Kiwanis community, and youth projects.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; and sister, Carol Modlin. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Shirley; and daughters, Bonnie Poticny of Birmingham, AL and Sandi (Kevin) O'Brien of Birmingham, AL; and son, Bob (Barbara) Wozniak of Sandusky; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. His sister, Marcy Sieczkowski, also survives him.
Family and friends will be received at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Friday, December 30 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The Funeral services will begin at Coyle on Saturday, December 31, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass at St. Joan of Arc Church, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd. Interment in Toledo Memorial Park will be private.
