Memories and Condolences
for Joan Darling

Not sure what to say?

August 22, 2007

For myDawleys and Darlings:

Let memories be of times you laughed
and times she made you smile.
She is gone from you just now,
but only for a while.

Not another thought of "here"
will trouble her, you see,
the empty space is only felt
on earth by you and me.

And one fine day, the Promise is
that you will meet again
and no more sorrows, fear or pain
will trouble any then.

Take comfort in the Gentle Hands
that carried her away
and Promises that never break
and Love that does not sway.

Receive the love of those still here
who come to share your sorrow,
and when the tears and heartaches
threaten you tomorrow...

Remember things that made you laugh
and times she made you smile,
and how she touched the ones she knew
if only for a while...

"These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

I am so glad I got back to Ohio in May to visit with her, Dick and Debbie. We had such fun talking about the old times and my mom (Eunice). She was the only one left of the family that knew the history on my mothers side of the family. She always lit up a room when she came in. I will remember with great fondness her spunky attitude about everything. She had a nice word about everyone. I feel privileged to have known this gentle soul and wish her a peaceful journey full circle.

Although it has been many, many years since I have seen her, I have wonderful memories of Joanie and John as neighbors on Lewis Avenue in Toledo. I can still recall how cute they were as I caught them slow dancing (several times) in the parking lot from my bedroom window. Even as a teenager it touched my heart to see them dance like that, it was so sweet, they always seemed to be laughing and enjoying the moment. My thoughts and prayers shall be with you. May good and happy memories help you through the weeks and months to come.

Our deepest sympathy go out to the Darling family. Joanie was truly a great lady. We met her via the Swanton American Legion. Many good times were shared with her. She was a very loving and vibrant person. Many memories to be cherished. She will be missed by all that knew her. God bless.
