Joanne Mosiniak Obituary

Joanne Mary (Pinkelman) Mosiniak

Joanne Mary (Pinkelman) Mosiniak, age 92, and lifelong resident of Assumption, Ohio, gently slipped into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 20, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph Albert and Mary Bridget (Marvin) Pinkelman.

When we love fiercely our love is never truly lost - and Joanne loved fiercely. She was a firecracker with an endless capacity for compassion. As a dedicated homemaker, Joanne devoted her life to raising her five children, and she poured her love into creating a warm and nurturing home for her family, as well as for anyone who walked through her door. Her selflessness was evident through her actions, as she effortlessly put others' needs before her own and became a shining example of how to live a life led with kindness. Joanne was like a mother to everyone who entered her life, and she was well-known for her humor, sweet nature, and quiet strength.

Joanne attended St. Mary's School in Assumption and graduated from Central Catholic in 1949. During her time at Central Catholic, Joanne showcased her musical talents as she played the saxophone in the marching band.

A devout Catholic, Joanne dedicated herself to Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption, where she was a lifelong member of the parish's Altar Rosary Society. She prayed the rosary daily, with a deep admiration for the Blessed Mother Mary. Joanne's unwavering faith served as an inspiration to all who knew her.

In addition to an avid dedication to her family and faith, Joanne had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She was a skilled bowler, and met her future husband, Virgil, while bowling in a local league, so started their enduring love story. As an accomplished seamstress, she delighted in knitting and sewing, creating beautiful garments, angels, dolls, afghans, pillows, foot cozies, and more. However, it was in the kitchen where Joanne truly excelled. Renowned for her genius baking skills and culinary expertise, she was always ready with a plate full of cookies or her legendary homemade noodles. She will be remembered for bringing family and friends together in the warmth of her kitchen.

Joanne leaves behind her beloved husband of 68 years, Virgil; along with their children, Michelle (Bill) Sheehan, Lynn Hinkle, Gary (Andrea) Mosiniak, Denise (Scott) Streng, and Julie (Tony) Mancuso. Her legacy continues through her thirteen grandchildren, Kaeleigh, Benjamin, Celine, Meisha, Hannah, Gabrielle, Olivia, Madeline, Maria, Andrew, Michael, Joseph, and Anthony; and five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Graham, Taylor, AJ, and Jazzy; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was, and continues to be, deeply loved. She will be missed far beyond the ability any words can convey, but her effervescent spirit will be carried on in the hearts of her loved ones. In death, Joanne is reunited with her parents; her brother, Donald Pinkelman; and sisters, Alice Rose Nichols and Eileen Havens.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 29th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Walter Tuscano presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Assumption. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
