John R Goetz

John R. Goetz of Oregon, Ohio, passed away quietly on January 6, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 30, 1935, to parents, John and Margaret (Kralik) Goetz of Toledo. John married his wife of 66 years, Diane M. (Seeger) of Oregon, Ohio, on June 11, 1955 and together they would raise four children.

Mr. Goetz was recognized as a 63-year member of I.B.E.W. Local 8 and was employed as a Journeyman Electrician for 39 years by several Northwest Ohio contractors until his retirement in 1998. He worked on many local area construction projects and will be remembered not only for his professional skills, but also for his cartoons. Cartoons that he drew and shared with his co-workers reflecting the day-to-day situations encountered on the various job sites.

John was a long-time instrument rated pilot owning and maintaining his own Piper Cherokee. He spent many happy hours flying and simply spending time with his fellow pilots at many of the local airports.

He was also a talented inventor and home machinist and soon after retiring from private aviation he became interested in building and flying scale model airplanes. He joined the Recker flying club and enjoyed flying his planes and sharing his experience and stories with the other club members.

John is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Scott (Jane) Goetz, Shelley (Mark) Becker, Michael (Joann) Goetz, John (Alana) Goetz; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Trevor, Brandon, Tyler, Rachael and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his parents, and younger brother, Joseph.
