Joseph Haslinger Obituary

Joseph S. Haslinger, 89, formerly of Gibsonburg, died early Friday morning, August 5, 2005, at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky. He was born on June 20, 1916, in Fremont to John and Hadie (Gabel) Haslinger. On October 12, 1946, he married Mardel M. Shammo and she survives. Joseph was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter with the Local 1138 and owned and operated Haslinger Orchard with his wife until retiring in 1997. Joseph was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, a life member of Walker-Smith Post 17 American Legion, Gibsonburg, the Fremont VFW, 3rd & 4th Degree K of C, 40th & 8, American Legion and the Ohio Horticultural Society.
Also surviving are daughter, Donna (Lance) Krotzer of Gibsonburg; sons, Steven (Mary) of Gibsonburg, David of Angola, IN, Fred (Leslie) of Fremont, Daniel (Becky) of Rossford, Tim of Gibsonburg; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wilfred Haslinger of Pueblo, CO, and Roseanna Schneider of Bowling Green, OH.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Servillian, Edward, Rupert, Carl, Urban, Harold and sister, Dorothy Borer.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg on Monday, August 8 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Don Mueller and Fr. Fred Schill officiating. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery with military rites.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio Veteran's Home or St. Michael Church.
