Julia Vanuka Obituary

Julia Marlene Vanuka

November 22, 1934 - January 11, 2026

Julie Vanuka ("Jules"), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Northern New Jersey, surrounded by her family and the many people who loved her.

Born on November 22, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, Julie lived a life defined by resilience, warmth, and an unwavering love for people. She was known for her unmistakable style-always impeccably dressed, even at physical therapy-and her signature eyewear, which reflected her personality as much as her wardrobe did. Julie had a presence that was both elegant and approachable.

Above all, Julie truly enjoyed people. She was deeply empathetic, shaped by the challenges she faced throughout her life, and she had a remarkable ability to connect with others through kindness, understanding, and humor. She was strong, loved life, and found great comfort and meaning in her relationship with God and in the many friendships she formed along the way. Julie loved a good laugh and brought joy and light to those around her.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Bicksler, and son-in-law, Dale; her son, Robert, and daughter-in-law Sara; and her cherished grandson, Ryan. She will be remembered as a woman who was deeply loved, beautifully stylish, endlessly compassionate, and forever devoted to her family and friends.

In her honor, donations may be made in Julie's name to The Guiding Eyes for the Blind, an organization close to her heart.

Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Julie held a special place in my heart. She had a heart for Jesus and a zest for life. She was always beautifully put together and had a home full of beautiful treasures. I had the pleasure of spending a weekend with her at a women´s retreat, she was always so insightful and encouraging.

Julie and I share the name Julia, but both of us are better known as Julie. The first time we were introduced at church, we knew we'd never forget each other's name. Every greeting was a warm hug and a 'Hi, Julie!' I've missed that since she moved. She will be remembered. She will be missed. Her family will be in my prayers.

I´ve missed Julie so much since she moved. She was a special lady who always brought laughter and light into any room. We were in Bible studies at church together for years.
Prayers for her family who I know she loved so much.

I was in a small group Bible study with Julie for several years. She was faithful in searching God's Word for the joy of trusting and knowing Him better. She was a blessing to our small group.
