Kathleen Scherer Obituary

Kathleen Kolacki Scherer

March 10, 1946 - February 25, 2026

Kathleen J. Kolacki Scherer, a lifelong resident of Toledo, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by her family.

Born on March 10, 1946, Kathy was a proud graduate of St. Ursula Academy. She dedicated more than 25 years of her professional life to her role as a sales manager at The Lion Store, where she was respected for her strong work ethic and impeccable style.

Kathy had a deep love for animals and was a devoted caretaker to many furry friends throughout her life, most recently her loyal dog, Barney, who was a constant presence at her side.

Her compassion extended not only to animals, but to everyone she welcomed into her home. Kathy was known for hosting wonderful parties for her cherished friends and family and for her love of celebrating the holidays. She especially loved Christmas, which brought together all her favorite things: decorating, shopping, gift-giving, and spending time with family. She also found great joy in gardening and spent many hours tending to her flowers and yard.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bernice Nalodka Kolacki; and her brother, Edwin Kolacki.

Kathleen is survived by her loving children: daughter, Leslie Scherer Nikolakos; son, Matthew Scherer; and daughter, Erin (Jeremy) Williams. She was also a proud grandmother to Andrew and Lily Williams, who brought her immense joy.

A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Kathy's honor to the Toledo Humane Society or to an animal rescue of your choice.
