Keegan Walborn Obituary

Keegan Michael Walborn

Keegan Michael Walborn, 20, of Maumee, passed away on July 30, 2025. Though his life was heartbreakingly short, it was marked by extraordinary love, purpose, and promise.

Keegan's heart was drawn to the natural world from the time he was little. He loved animals, exploring the outdoors, and finding beauty in places most people overlooked. That passion shaped his future. After graduating magna cum laude from Maumee High School, he was a junior at the University of Toledo, studying Environmental Engineering and determined to make the world a better place. He worked in the university lab as a research assistant. Additionally, he worked at the Toledo Zoo and dreamed of one day having all kinds of animals, specifically pomeranians named after different cheeses.

Brilliant and multi-talented, Keegan was also a gifted athlete and musician. He ran track, played soccer, and performed viola in orchestra, all while excelling academically. Yet what stood out most wasn't just his achievements, but the way he used his gifts and a deep desire to help others. In his free time, Keegan loved talking while video gaming with friends and building Legos.

Those who knew Keegan speak often of his kindness. He noticed when people were struggling and stepped in quietly, offering encouragement, listening, or making them laugh when they needed it most. His sense of humor was quick-witted, and his presence steady and comforting.

More than anything, Keegan loved his family. He was everything to his parents, Teresa and Todd, and his sister, Kelsey. Together, they created countless memories vacationing every year. These are memories his family will hold close forever. He loved snorkeling in Cozumel, hiking in Utah, and crab hunting in Block Island. Keegan loved to explore every environment he encountered. All of these moments shaped his love of protecting our planet.

Keegan lived a life full of compassion, purpose, and joy, and he leaves a lasting legacy. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for who he was: a son, brother, and friend who loved deeply and inspired others to do the same.

Keegan was preceded in death by his baby sister, Kayla; and his grandfather, Duane Cisek. He is survived by his parents, Todd and Teresa; his sister, Kelsey; his grandparents, Tom and Carol Walborn, and Janet Cisek; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and his furry friend, Izzy.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday, August 8, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m., immediately followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Keegan's family asks that donations be made to organizations that help the planet and animals and align with Keegan's dream of making the Earth a better place.

Some people don´t just pass through life, they leave traces of light in the hearts they meet. You were one of those souls. With your kindness, you made the world feel softer, safer, and a little more human for everyone around you.

I keep thinking about the plant cutting you gave me. I had mentioned I liked indoor plants, and we laughed about how ridiculously expensive they are here. It´s growing now, putting out new branches, quietly thriving.

Even on Tuesday, we talked so much about random topics. It felt like any other day. You were yourself-curious, funny, thoughtful.

You are missed in more ways than words can ever express. The office is quieter now, emptier. But your voice, your laugh, your kindness-they echo.

Thank you for being a beautiful soul in this world.

Keegan was a bright, passionate, and well-organized student with a deep love for the environment. In the lab, he was calm, kind, and always ready to help others - someone you could truly count on. I´ll always remember how gently he cared for the fish we brought back from one of our sampling trips - a small act that showed the depth of his compassion.

He often spoke about his sister with heartfelt concern, wishing her strength, happiness, and a life full of courage. "As her brother, I just want her to be okay," he once said - a simple sentence that showed his deep love and protective spirit.

Keegan, your kindness, your steady presence, and your gentle heart will always be remembered.

Dear Walborn Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Keegan was a wonderful person and an amazing human being I met in our Chemistry class at UToledo, Freshmen year. Quickly he became part of my small group of friends. I lost a great friend. Out of many friends, he was the first person to come and support me in the Toledo Kidney Walk last year. He walked with me all along for the cause. I will miss him so much. This world lost a great person! My prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
