You don't know me, but I had to write. I am so sorry for your loss, and for your children's loss. My husband is a Marine and the pride, fear, worry is no different. I am grateful for people like your husband who are willing to put their life on the line to make the world a better place. I'm sure that doesn't ease your suffering, but know that his life will continue to inspire, and give hope to others

Danielle and Family--I do not know any of you but just want to let you know you will all be in my prayers during this upcoming trial. I am sure it is not easy to rehash it over and over, but Danielle I admire you for the way you keep it together for the public and your children. I am sure you have many lonely times that no one can heal, but it also sounds like you have a very strong supportive family, both yours and Keiths. I am sure he is so proud of you. I work with a nurse who's brother was the last one killed on the new bridge, as I was so touched when she told me that you went to see his wife and see if you could be of any help. You are keeping Keith's spirit alive and one day you will all be together again. I just feel I needed to write this to you. God Bless you, the children, and both of your family's.

Keith-Just keep an eye on us all-and keep us safe in all that we do. We all need to feel you around us. I know you have got a major flight path that you have to keep to get to all of us. Just keep a watch over all of us, and help us get through your trial coming up. We miss you so much. Not a day goes by that we don't think of you. Keep Danielle, Noah, and Syd safe too. Love you always. Your sis, Jen

Happy Easter Keith! For in our hearts, we will be saddened by your absence but your love and faith will get us through. Mom and Dad have been so strong. Danielle has been so strong as well. She is a good woman, and I find myself smiling with pride for her. She is taking each day, step by step-and I don't know how she does it, because at times I can barely hold it together. I miss you very much. Noah and Syd will always be in my prayers. We will tell them the stories and always let them know about you. Just as Danielle will do. You will never be forgotten. The world has lost a wonderful man. My baby brother- an incredible, decent, loving, funny, and courageous man. A Hero indeed-God keep you in his hands until we meet in heaven. I love and miss you Keith. Love- Jen

For two weeks now I've wanted to pick up the phone and call you, but I don't know the right words to say. I could ask if you're okay or how you're doing, but I'm sure you've heard that so many times.... I could ask if there is anything I can do to help, but I know that there is nothing I can say or do that can help take away the pain or the loss. I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you constantly. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about you and hope that you, Noah and Sydney are all doing okay. I want you to know that if there is ever anything you need, no matter what it is, please call. Keith will always be with you, in your heart and in the way you keep his memory alive. And you will always have the love that you shared. Nobody will ever be able to take that away from you, until the two of you meet again.......

To The Dressel Family,
Heaven has another angel. I watched this story unfold and it touched my heart even though I do not personally know your family. I have a tremendous respect for all who serve the public and watched the services on TV. I cried with you and want you to know that along with the thousands who attended Keith's funeral, there were thousands more who watched and mourned your deep loss. What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful soul. Keith truly made a mark on the world as he strove to make the world a better place. I'd say he was very successful as I saw all of the goodness in people coming forth to honor him from all across this country and Canada.
I heard a priest say recently that death is not the end....it's the beginning. Let's celebrate his life until we all meet again in that beautiful place called Heaven. My Mother passed away 5 years ago, and my 4-year old granddaughter summed it up best one day when I told her that my Mom went to Heaven, she replied "Oh, when did she move there?"...as if it was just another town close by. Well, it comforts me to think that I will "move" to Heaven myself one day...and so we will be together again with our loved ones and with the Lord forever more.
I know there will be plenty of tears of sorrow, but may you feel our prayers lifting your burden, praying for you to be stronger each day. God bless each one of you.

Dear Dressel Family,
I did not know the family, but my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I was at the Storm game the other night and witnessed the love for all of you, the standing ovation brought me to tears, I also thought it was heartwrenching when all the players skated over to shake all of your hands. Their truly are some wonderful, caring, loving people in the world. May God Bless each one of you, and may Keith's memory be kept alive.

Danielle,
I was at the Toledo Storm game Friday night and witnessed the moving ceremony before the game. I did not know Keith, but I want you to know that I appreciate his bravery and dedication to his job. I am so sorry for your loss. You have two beautiful children and it will be a comfort to you to know that his legacy will live on in them as they grow. Please know my prayers are with you and Keith will never be forgotten.
God Bless

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Dressel Family,
I would like to offer you my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I did not know Keith, but I know the Dressel family. My Grandma passed this past December, Her name is Geraldine Dressel Kapela. It has been a hard few months for us all. My Grandma lived a full happy life and her passing although painfull, was something we knew was close. I was stricken with such a stab to the heart to hear of a young, brave & generous man my age, from my family taken so brutally from all of our lives. I struggle with grief daily still and I have asked "why?" so many times in the last two months. I have not recieved any answer, but I have began to dig deep down in my faith to find some peace to help me with the unanswered questions. I have four children, and I find myself hearing and believing my answer to them when they ask me "why?" On this earth we are all not given an answer right away. But if you remember the promises Jesus spoke about, all will be revealed in time. It is not the answer we want to accept, but for now on this earth it is all we have. I hope and pray that you will find some peace with the "Why?" soon.
I was holding my Grandmother in my arms when she passed and slipped away from this Earth. I saw glory in her face and her mother, Keith's Great Grandma greated her from heaven. It was very beautiful when my Grandma called out loud "Here I am Mom" What a heartfelt relief to know that she was not alone on that final journey. I believe with all my soul that God gave Keith that special someone to help him too. I was so touched to hear a favorite song played in Church. "Here I am Lord" is a beautiful song, I can picture Keith and Jesus in my heart during that first embrace I know they shared that morning. God has promised us a new life and journey, and my faith is rock solid. I saw this truth, I was a witness to the journey. I do not fear Death, because I was blessed with proof and seeing it with my own sad eyes. But Death is still so hard for the ones left behind. I am praying for you all. Danielle, you and your babies are in my thoughts and prayers tonight and in the many night and days ahead.
I was lucky enough to be able to watch the funeral procession in person, in front of Bedford High School where I work with my Mom, Keiths' cousin also. I have never seen such a more loving and beautiful show of support, how blessed Keith was to have so many people there for him and your family. I am honored to have so many wonderful people protecting our families in this area and all around the country too.
I was very touched to here Fr. Dan give the mass, his words were very thoughtful. Our cousin Fr. Dan has been busy doing three of our families funerals these past few months, I pray that we will be spared from anymore loss. It is just to hard to imagine another loss like the ones we have been through. Keith was a true hero, we are so thankfull for the blessing of his life among us. I have heard so many wonderfull things about him. I did not know him personally, but I am proud to call him family, and proud to have had him protect us all these years here on Earth. I know he will still be protecting you all as an angel in heaven, as it was his calling.
May you all find some comfort in the painfull days to follow. I will always remember the sight of so many loved ones, brothers and sisters as they followed a true hero. I will also never forget the sight of Sydney waving to us from the Limo as you drove past us that day. She had a beautiful smile on her face, I can't think of anything more wonderfull. The pride and love of our children shining brightly among so many tears.
May God Bless You All,
Misty Sobecki

To the ENTIRE Dressel Family, Me and my entire family send our sincere deepest condolences. My daughter, Dawn, use to work with Keith when they were employed at Value City years ago. I still remember some of the stories that Dawn use to come home and tell me about Keith. She said he was so funny, however, when it came time to do his job, he took it serious and was a MASTER at it! When they eventually sought other employment, my daughter talked about him for quite a while after that. She missed him as a friend and always hoped to run into him. Through the years, Dawn and Keith did cross paths here and again and never forgot their "Value City" days. They would try to catch up with each others lives and per Dawn, always had a good laugh. I can't imagine your pain, however, I see the pain that my daughter has gone through since Keith's demise. I share this story with you so that you know others like my family and I, knew what a wonderful person Keith was. God definitely blessed you with a good son, husband & father. All in all, as a mother and wife, I can't begin to imagine burying a child or spouse. I am so thankful that you have great support from The Chief of Police, Mayor Finkbeiner, TFD, TPD and all of Keith's extended family members such as his brothers and sisters from the force.
I thank you for your husband, son and father for keeping the streets of Toledo safer. I know that this tragedy will only make his extended family (TPD) stronger and in Keith's memory continue to strive harder to continue keeping the streets of Toledo safe.
Just remember, Keith is still with all of you and will ALWAYS remain in your hearts. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers. May God bless you all and help make each and everyone of you stronger every day.
I would also like to thank you for allowing us the public concerned citizens to be a part of his funeral by allowing Keith's services to be televised. I cried with you. Everything was just as beautiful as Keith was.

My heart goes out to the Dressel family, I can't imagine the loss of a child. It has to be heart breaking. I was Jenny's soft ball coach years ago and I remember the little brothers and the Mom. You will be in our prayers and our thoughts, as your Keith will never be forgotten. So sorry I couldn't get there to pay my respects.

Jenny, I do know what it's like to lose a brother as I lost mine 25 years ago. It leaves a empty feeling in your heart, and a special place there only for that special brother. The pain will pass but the memories will live on. I hope with all my heart you get through this the sweet girl you have always been and lots of pride for the special family you have. I now live in Florida but will remember all the girls that played on my ball teams and the fun of just being with them. I hope we meet again some day,+ I'd love to have a reunion, and see what all my girls have done in life. Love Your "old" Coach

As I watched the funeral for Det Keith Dressel,I knew I would stand on my porch and pay my respects to Keith, his family, friends and The TPD and the the other police departments that were represented as they past my residence. Some nodded or waved and said "Thank You"-No,we should say "Thank You" to Keith for his dedication to make the world a safer place to live. As the sea of flashing lights as far as I could see on Erie Road started to stop because they could go no further they just parked and walked the rest of the way to the cemetery. Even though I do not know the family my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. God Bless

Danielle & Family,
I want to extend my deepest condolences for the loss of your Husband and Son Keith. It was a senseless act leaving a family and Toledo with a loss of a Great Man. I have been following his story from day one and coming from a line of Police Officers I can only empathize with what your family is going through. Many tears where shed watching his funeral for it was a great tribute to a man who truly was a HERO, for one who made a big difference in everyone's life. Continue to stand PROUD for him and keep all the good memories going. May God Bless YOU ALL and as Keith looks down upon all of you his life will keep going through those he has touched. My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone there and the highest respect for all the men and woman who put their lives on the line to keep everyone safe. Keith is now an ANGEL may he rest in peace.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

My deepest condolences to the Dressel Family and the Toledo Police Department. I attended the Funeral Services for Det Dressel today as a representative of the Lima (Ohio) Police Department Honor Guard. The outpour of Support from the Local Community and the Law Enforcement Community is an inspiring sight. THESE are the Communities that Keith served and served with. Communities that make me proud of my profession, working alongside of professionals like Keith; most of whom I never get to meet. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and the thoughts and prayers of the City of Lima Police Department. Again, OUR Deepest Condolences!

I met Keith through his sister Jennifer while I was attending the University of Toledo. He and I took the TPD test at the same time. I still remember when Jen called me to tell me he had made the force. He was a great person and always made me laugh. He is truly a hero and a great American. My sympathy goes out to his family.

To the Dressel Family - My heart goes out to you!!! I did not know any of you but your loss captured my heart and soul. As I followed this tragic story since it happened and as I watched the funeral all day today, I could not help but feel an overwhelming amount of saddness and emptiness accompanied by many many tears as we all mourn the loss of such a good man. This was a tragic accident that should never have happened. They say that time will heal all wounds. Someday, somewhere, and when you least expect it -- you will feel peace. When you are sad or feeling alone, always know that you have family and friends you can turn to as they will be there for you with love and open arms. Keith was a true hero and so deserves all of his recognition. It is obvious that he meant so very much to so very many people - especially to the ones who knew him and to the ones who didn't. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers to help you get through this time of pain and sorrow.

To the Family of Keith Dressel,
We at the Heritage Baptist Church would like to express our deepest sympathies for your loss. As important as Keith's job was, that's not WHO he was; it's WHAT he was. WHO he was was a SON, a FATHER, a HUSBAND, a BROTHER, an UNCLE, and a FRIEND.
The Bible tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD. We hope and pray that you and your family will find comfort from Christ in this time of sorrow and mourning.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To The Dressel Family:
My deepest condolences for your loss. I come from a family of firefighters and have a few friends on the TPD and giving of one's self for the sake of the communities' well being is a fantastic sacrifice and admirable way of life. May Keith rest in peace and may you forever feel his presence and strength in your heart. I didn't know Keith, but kind of feel like I did.
