Kenneth KRUSE Obituary

KRUSE Kenneth R. Kenneth R. Kruse, age 85, of Toledo passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in Aspen Grove Assisted Living, Lambertville, Michigan. He was born February 5, 1927, in Toledo to Amelia and Otto Kruse and spent his boyhood in Keene California where he attended a one room schoolhouse and roamed his beloved California mountains. After moving back to Toledo he graduated from Whitmer High School, joined the Navy and married his high school sweetheart Marcella Miller. Kenneth served as a ship's radar man during World War II aboard the LCI 725. After being honorably discharged he was employed at City Auto Stamping where he was a metal finisher for 43 years. He built his present home where he and Marcella still live after 57 years. He loved America and travelled to just about every state, National Park, and important point of interest in the country except Alaska, and then went international.....Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Israel. He raised his family in the Trilby Methodist Church where he has been a member for over 60 years. He approached just about all of his hobbies and interests always striving for perfection in everything... guitar, photography, hunting, fishing, and western square dance; but his greatest talent lay in his creative carpentry and beautiful furniture making. He was a passionate person and giver of his many gifts and talents to his family. Kenneth was preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Hodge and Ruth Amstutz, and son-in-law, Patrick O'Phelan. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Marcella; daughter, Sandra O'Phelan; son, Roger (Chris) Kruse; grandchildren, Heather Kruse, Alyssa Kruse (Michael Gee), Ethan (Krissy) Kruse, and Ian O'Phelan, and 7 great-grandchildren. Friends may visit the family at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Friday, February 10, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Saturday, February 11, 2012, after 10 a.m. where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 River Rd. Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Aspen Grove for their care of Kenneth. Dear Marcella and Roger,
Received the news from Sister Barbara of Kenny's passing away.  My heartfelt sympathy to your whole family.
I still have fond memories of square dancing with you which were rekindled a few weeks ago when I started linedancing at the County and Western Club here in Austria.
Yours sincerely,
