Kimberly Sue Dent
"Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
The light we know as Kimberly Sue Dent shined into the world on February 26, 1961, and on September 8, 2025, returned to be with our heavenly Father, her daughter, Sarah, and all those who went before her. That light shines on through all of those she blessed throughout her years. Everyone who knew and loved Kim had their lives enriched by her overflowing and unconditional love, generosity, kindness, and her unwavering dedication to lift up the people who surrounded her. The last word she left us with was "home," reminding us that it was her time to return to her heavenly Father.
Kim was born to Roger and Rita Hullstrung, and lived in Toledo her entire life. She married her high school sweetheart, Dan, on December 9, 1978 - a love that served as a shining example of what a strong and enduring relationship should be. They had celebrated 46 years of wedded bliss. Kim and Dan shared their lives together, raising 5 children in a loving home which overflowed with infectious laughter, love, and memories. She saw herself as a mother and friend to all, sheltering and nurturing all people she came in contact with whether they were related to her or not. There was no one outside of Kim's family!
As the stories of her imprint on our lives are told in the coming days and years, we'll recall her true joys in life… her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even during the days she struggled through, they were the ones who brought her happiness and something to look forward to. Not a moment went by where she did not encourage, send her love or offer her thoughts to them personally. And the cows… EVERYONE knew her love of cows. Kim has more cows for her family to carry on than anyone knows how to handle. And never to be forgotten, her love of the snow, travel for Fall colors, Halloween, jewelry, the color pink, the Packers, gardening, and the people she met along the way during her short time on Earth.
Her love for others naturally led her to serve in the church where she spent the majority of her working life as the Parish Administrator of Epiphany Lutheran Church. She ministered to people by sharing God's love during all stages and challenges of their lives.
Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward "Stubby" and Carolyn Hullstrung, and Charles and Iona Komen; father, Roger Hullstrung; father-in-law, George Korn; brothers-in-law, Eddie Taylor and Todd Wood; nephew, Christopher Ryan; daughter, Sarah Dent; and precious grandchildren Luke, Lily, and Lance Shoemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Dent; sister, Pam Wood; brother, Roger Hullstrung; children, Kristy (Roy) Shoemaker, DJ (Jen Tremblay) Dent, Amanda (Michael) Nutt, and Theresa (John) Vancalster; grandchildren, Shannon (Anthony) Aguilar, Roy II (Julie) Shoemaker, Mylah and Macy Shoemaker, Wyatt and Caleb Dent, Jack Tremblay, Connor and Jackson Nutt, Brooklynn, Carter and Hudson Vancalster; great-grandchildren, Ramona and Eliana Shoemaker; mother, Rita Hullstrung; mother-in-law, Donna Korn; and an abundance of loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews too lengthy to list but still special in her heart.
