Memories and Condolences
for Lamin Ngobeh

Not sure what to say?

Emmanuel Mbobi

July 10, 2025

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Lamin´s family on his passing. I first met Lamin in 1989 while pursuing my master´s degree at the University of Toledo. He played a significant role in supporting many African students in Toledo, including me. After my wife and I were married, we had the privilege of having his son, Faaba, stay with us for a while.

It was a shock to learn of Lamin´s passing only recently, almost nine years after it happened. We wish his family comfort and strength as they continue to heal from this loss. May God grant them peace, and may Lamin´s gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Hi Valerie,I find this hard to believe that I am writing a condolence letter to you. I met Lamin some 40 years ago when he was just out of college and was a close friend of Boubacar. He was such a gentleman. I owe my health to him because he was so persuasive in making me sign up for a kidney transplant. I grieve along with you, because I know how he cherished the moments and the travel experience he had with you. But only God knows why he chose to call him at this time. Continue to pray and eventually peace will come, especially the day you meet him again in a place that is more peaceful and content then the one he left behind. Thank the Lord and believe in his promise that comfort follows mourning through our tear because the Great Physician who never makes a mistake will be your healer in this quiet hour.

Boubacar sends his condolences also, and says he is sorry he could not be there.

Rest in peace, Dear Friend! We met as college students and the good Lord called you home too soon. We will miss you, Lamin! May all who love you be comforted in the knowledge that you now are with Our Father in Heaven, but you will be forever remembered in our hearts! Peace be unto you, your loved ones and friends.
Sincerely, Edward and Denise Onyia & Family
