Lawrence Malaska Obituary
Lawrence E. "Larry" Malaska, age 77, of Oregon, OH, passed away October 28, 2025, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born March 19, 1948, in Toledo, to Benedict and Dorothy (Fiander) Malaska. Larry was a 1966 graduate of Woodward High School, where he played baseball. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Larry worked for the City of Toledo and retired as Superintendent for the Parks and Recreation Department. Larry loved music and to read a good book. He enjoyed going to all the nieces' and nephews' sporting events. Larry liked to travel, walk and going to the casino with his wife, Kathy.
In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by his siblings, Judy (John) English and Jackie (Bill) Peterman; and nephew, David Malaska. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy Malaska; brothers, Ron (Cindy) Malaska and Denny (Darlene) Malaska; nieces and nephews, Janice (Bob), Joyce, Mike (Lisa), Corey (Scott), Annette (Tim), Amy (Jim) and Mark (Shelby); great-nieces and nephews, Andrea, Jenna, Jake, Daniel, Sarah, Margaret, Avery, Ansley, Braedan, Madeline, Ben, Jonathan, Nicholas, Ben and Alex.
The family will receive guests Monday, November 3, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., at Newcomer- SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., 419-381-1900. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 719 Evesham Ave, Toledo, OH 43607, where the family will greet guests at 10:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, in Larry's memory.

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Larry for many years. He was a great mentor and gentleman. We spent many days training seasonal employees at the Mott Street district building and taking care of some great parks. Everyone appreciated his sense of humor and constant smile. I remember when he tried to teach me to play Euchre and I failed miserably. I enjoyed the times I went to various restaurants with Kathy and Larry. It was always a great time. Larry will always be remembered fondly. Thank you for your Army service. I am out of town and will be unable to attend, but Kathy and Larry will be in my thoughts and prayers.
