Lester STEVENS Obituary

STEVENS Lester "Les" Lester "Les" S. Stevens, 70, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Adrian, MI on April 4, 1941 to Lester and Berdena (Canaan) Stevens. Les had a quick wit, easy-going temperament, and generous nature that endeared him to his family, friends, co-workers, and customers. His laid-back disposition, sense of humor, and unpretentious personality not only served him well in developing friendships, but also led to a long and successful career in sales. He began his 50-year career at Driggs Dairy, and spent the last 13 years at Nollenberger Truck Center. A natural athlete, Les was a standout football player at Adrian High School, an accomplished trap and skeet marksman, a motorcycle enthusiast, and an avid golfer. Les enjoyed spending his free time at Tanglewood Golf Club with his buddies. Les was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Ann Stevens; children and step children, Mark (Amy) Stevens, Jill (Shawn) Walsh, Michele Trombley, Dan (Katrina) Trombley, Melissa (Matthew) Sattler; grandchildren, Zachary and Austin Stevens, Isabella and Anthony Trombley, James and Stella Sattler; mother, Berdena Stevens; brother, Richard (Linda) Stevens, and many more family members and friends, and his faithful dog, Max. "Papa Les" will be greatly missed by his grandchildren. His generosity kindness, and good nature are irreplaceable. The family wishes to thank all those who provided their love and support during Les' illness, as well as the caring doctors and nurses at UTMC. Friends are invited to visit from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 South Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43614. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, the University of Toledo Foundation in support of cardiothoracic surgery, or the charity of their choice.
