Levonne Gantt Obituary

GANTT Levonne L. Levonne L. Gantt, 67, of Point Place died unexpectedly along with her closest of friends on Sunday, October 11, 2009, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. She was born in Toledo, Ohio to Lambert H. and Frieda A. (Draheim) Fink in 1942. Levonne was a loving, generous, and strong willed woman who gave her time and attention to all who loved and needed her. She was a selfless and determined woman who set her standards high and lived up to her reputation. She was involved in various organizations, such as: Eastern Star Toledo Chapter #341 serving as Associate Conductress, True Kindred serving as Supreme Chaplain, Amaranth - DSRM serving as past Grand Royal Matron in 1986 to 1987. She worked for 30 years at Rossford High School as the Head Cook retiring this year. Levonne cherished traveling with her dear friends: Chris Fulghum, Martha Jacobs, and Norma Ottersetter; you never knew where they would end up or when they would take off. Levonne could be found relaxing with her nose in a "good book." But more than all the trips, novels, and organizations, her truest love and devotion was to her grandchildren, Aaron and Jordan. In these past few years Levonne developed a deep connection with her only granddaughter, moments and memories that will forever be embedded in our minds. You never saw Levonne without her most precious and valuable piece of jewelry, her "special grandmother" necklace. Those who are left to carry on this awe-inspiring legacy of Levonne are her children, Debra (William) Duseberg, John (Teri) Weaver II, and Rebecca (Robert) Orwig, and her most beloved grand-children, Aaron Gross and Jordan Orwig, and treasured great-grandson, Aaron Mikeal Gross. Levonne was reunited with her parents, and her husbands, John I. Weaver Sr. and Benjamin Gantt. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009, from 2-8 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St. (419. 726.1583). True Kindred service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7 p.m. followed by Amaranth service. Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Rushton officiating. Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to make a contribution in Levonne's memories are asked to consider Grand Court of Ohio for Amaranth Diabetic Research, 314 Powderhorn Place, Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110. To the family of Lee I worked with your mom at Rossford HS cafe for a few years. And she always remembered birthdays all of the holidays with a gift. Or if she took a trip she always remembered us. With these memories she gave us we will remember her. Faye Cashen

I was introduced to Levonne by my late mother (Kathleen Zakorczeny) when they worked together at Kroger. Levonne offered to make my wedding cake which turned out beautiful and delicious. She also was kind enough to give some of her ceramics she had made to my family. She was a very kind woman who I am pleased to have known. Please accept my condolences to your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Becky, Our deepest sympathy goes to you and your family. There is nothing one can say that makes anything any better the only thing I can say is stay strong. We did not know your mother but with speaking with some of you friends and reading the articles we understand she was a great woman. Please accept our condolences. Don and Carrie

To the entire Weaver Family,

So many of my best memories were spent with your family. Even though we have lost touch over the years, I think of all you quite often. Your mom was a very strong person, who didn't let much hold her back. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this tough time.

My friend, there are no words to say that could possibly convey the loss all of us are feeling at this time. The Order of True Kindred has lost one of it's golden links but our circle shall be complete beyond the veil. So, when life's sweet journey ends
Soul and body part, like friends
No quarrels, no murmurs, no delay
A kiss, a sigh, and so away Farewell My Friend
Your #1 Volunteer
Carrie Welenc

All my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to such a closeknit family especially her pride and joy.
